A very busy week last week.  In Vienna for a United Nations NGO Drug Committee Meeting.  I was representing the ICAA.  Later that day visited a treatment centre up in the Alps.  Next day onto Bucharest with the Regional Drug Agency covering half a dozen countries.  Then onto Brasov and got a briefing on the alcohol and drug problems in that area.  Visited a brand new treatment centre that had only just opened and who wished to gain from the experience at Castle Craig.  I met up with my son who is doing charitable work in the Brasov area and we both went on Saturday morning back to Bucharest and were entertained to lunch by the Azerbaijan Ambassador to Romania at his Embassy.  He is also a Board Member of the ICAA and we were able to discuss matters of mutual interest.  There are enormous problems in these countries and particularly worrying is the home production of spirits.  I discovered that there are 175 meetings of Narcotics Anonymous in Ukraine but none in Romania.  This must obviously be addressed.
