Didn't see or hear items however did the real thing and found it very rewarding. Very aware of it being a landmark for me in treatment due its capacity to make me aware of myself when in the presence of the horses. It would be great to think this will be an ongoing thing. I think the relationship between humans and horses is an ancient one and the spiritual basis of that relationship lies at the heart of its success. And so does Aureol- think it's important to recognise her work in bringing patients and horses together. Her trust in us not to harm them in anyway speaks volumes to those of us who never felt we were trusted. Nice to see it all being recognised.

Peter is quoted as saying it is more expensive than other treatment in the short term, but has a 50% success rate. I take that to be a 50% failure rate in return for even more squandered funding, but who will ever question Castle Craig's authority in those matters?
I do, and believe the 'funding' gravy train will hit the buffers sooner or later. Re: Horses used to help drug addicts

The programme is said to help drug addicts and alcoholics understand there are no instant solutions to their problems. The horse work complements a 12-step recovery programme, based on total abstinence. fosamax

50% success rate, that's pretty good. But the question is: from how many patients, 50% will be cured?

I think you all are a bit skeptical about this, may be you are right, but i say let's give them a chance, see what happens. We all know to criticize, how many of us actually do something? I have seen a conventional clinic, we are familiar whit healing techniques. Bringing something new in drug rehab centers can have great results.

So there would be 50% failure? Still a bit high is it?

This is an excellent idea. Helping addicts using a horse stand as a drug addiction treatment center is great. In fact not only horses, but animals. This is good news that some have thought about the poor addicts.

First of all, I don’t like the idea of using those poor animals to experiment on them and find the right drug treatment for those who become addicts to alcohol or crack. And the second problem I see here is that we can’t be sure that the drugs that work for horse will work for humans too…. Maybe for humans the side effects will be deadly or something.

I have a last question. Did they already try it on humans?

Animals are known to help people in drug rehabilitation. Dolphins and dogs are the most common choice and I have never heard about horses used for addicted people, but there is also a first for everything.
